I don't know whether this blog will ever see the light of day; I have my doubts. This blog is a way for me to get somethings off my chest that I never thought I'd ever be able to do. It doesn't seem as though anyone is capable of telling the truth or putting someone elses needs above their own. What does Bill DiBlasio NYC's newly elected public advocate and his staff do all day long? They don't do anything, not that I can see. What does any of these agencies do? I've been having a problem with the Brooklyn Peer Advocacy Center at 250 Baltic st. In Brooklyn. When I complained to both DiBlasio and Sharon Carpinello commissioner of the NYS office of mental health got no help,no response.Infact my letters instead of being handled with discretion and confidentially were sent to the object of the complaint. I tried to find out if I could file a formal complaint, if there was a regulatory/watch dog agency that monitors, and takes complaints against these peer centers. These centers get city,state, maybe federal funding. The workers are incompetent and unreliable. I've been having problems with the B'klyn Peer Advocacy center for a very long time. None of these centers is what they seem. One is supposed to be able to them for help if it's needed; help such as housing; which I need help with, and other things. They have you sign all kinds of papers. One being that they will represent and advocate; but when push comes to shove where are they? If something comes up an appointment for something important such as was the situation in my case, I was told to reschedual it because it was inconvenient, they couldn't make it. I was supposed to accomodate them. This was not a good idea because this is not an agency that you mess with; or so easy for me to reschedual what I have to do since I have no one to help me. This makes this a double hardship. This person knew this and yet still wanted me to do this. So I did. I wrote to them to let them know this since I don't have a phone and couldn't call. I never got a response. I had to go by myself. Carla; her name is Carla Berkley knew how critical this appointment was.I told them there was a problem. Yet Carla couldn't be bothered to reschedual whatever she had to do since this was essentially an emergency and would probably have been a one time only thing. Needless to say things didn't go well.For all intents and purposes Carla Berkley works for me on my behalf. She baled on me, left me in the lurch when I needed her the most.Gave me the brush off. Whenever I asked for any help with something either did little to nothing the bare minimum she could get away with or made these lame excuses, then became offended when I said anything. These places are funded yet they are allowed to get away with this. They don't take responsibility and are never held accountable These people aren't qualified to do this work and shouldn't be in a position where they hold someone's life in their hands; and when they have no idea what they are doing. My life hang is hanging in the balance this shouldn't be left to someone who lacks the ability to think and reason; who puts their wants and needs above the very real problems of the person their supposedly representing,It's clear they don't know what their doing and shouldn't be this. The only reason they are isto give them busy work to train them and validate them. I'm not some lab experiment that they can train on and get their feet wet, and if I just happen to get help that's icing on the cake.When I wrote to DiBlasio,I was doubtful that he would respond,and wanted this kept confidential. Well I was right I never heard from him . But knew immediately upon going to BPAC That DiBlasio sent them the letter,They closed ranks. They cover each others butts. Carla Berkley, Mark Hershenson, Anthony Scarlato, Zena, as well as the rest of them. Carla wasn't there anymore. She wasn't fired; they don't do that. She got transfered. nothing changed it was business as usual;they continue to screw up the lives their charged with supposedly helping. I feel that the money is being mis spent.I think these peer advocacy centers are frauds and should lose their funding. I wanted to make a formal complaint with commissioner Sharon Carpinello,got no where even though it was my right to do so. When I tried to do this all I got was lip service. They don't care none of them.
